Dynamics of chip formation during the cutting process using imaging techniques: A review

Imaging techniques have been widely implemented to study the dynamics of chip formation. They can offer a direct method and full field measurement cutting process, providing kinematic information formation process. In this article, state art imaging reported in literature has summarized analyzed. The applied mechanism, friction behavior, strain/strain rate, stress fields. Furthermore, surface integrity advanced by deriving thermo-mechanical loading, subsurface deformation, material constitutive model from technique. Finally, achievements area summarized, followed future directions for their application integrity.
